Matt is a respected social entrepreneur with a background in youth work and social enterprise. He was recently selected by The Guardian as one of the top 5 people to follow on twitter on Social Isolation and Underemployment. Matt joined Street League as CEO in June 2010 and has led a transformation of the organisation from a small grant dependent charity into a dynamic and innovative national social enterprise using football to tackle disadvantage amongst young people across the UK. Under Matt’s leadership Street League changed direction and now focuses entirely on helping young people living in disadvantaged communities get jobs by engaging them in a structured football and education programme. Prior to Street League Matt was Chief Executive of Young Enterprise North West and Founder CEO of the multi-award winning ‘Unique Social Enterprise’ in Newark. Matt was a ‘Social Enterprise Ambassador’ for the Government in 2007, and in 2012 won the HBS Alumni Club of London scholarship to Harvard Business School to undertake the Strategic Perspectives in NonProft Management course. Matt is a qualified youth worker, a Fellow of the RSA, a Board member of CAN and has an MBA with Distinction from Nottingham University.
