The restoration of St Simon’s church, Mount Gould.

From Andrew Richardson, Founder, Working For Good (Communities) CIC

You may be aware that we are in the process of applying for a seed funding grant to enable us to finalise a detailed feasibility study with Le Page Architects (http://www.lepagearchitects.com/category/projects/community/) and test the business case for St Simon’s to ensure that the project will be sustainable. We have held three consultation events and had some tremendous feedback – of both support and need –  stimulated in part by a recent two page article in the Plymouth Herald below
St Simon’s church article 14.03.2015

There are three main areas of interest, the:

  • heritage aspect for the restoration of a fine and rare church organ and “arts and craft” period church and buildings;
  • potential for community activities that redevelopment will create
  • scope for ongoing involvement, and developing community projects with St Simon’s facilitating or providing a base.

We are delighted to have the support of Foto Now CIC, a local photographic and film CIC who will be making a film to capture this interest and help us share the project vision on a wider scale. Foto Now details can be found here  http://www.fotonow.org/projects .

Anyone would like to include either their comments in a short 2-3 minute film around the above themes can attend a filming day and there should be lots of other activity on site!
We would  like to include some “one liners” from the diverse range of stakeholders, professionals, suppliers, potential clients such as local charities and music, community groups, practitioners etc.

Our two preferred dates are: Tuesday  7th and Saturday  11th April at St Simon’s at a time to suit you.

It would be helpful if you could confirm whether you (or a colleague) would like to be included and your availability.

The following dates are also potentially available April: Friday  10th,Tuesday 14th and Thursday 16th and it would be helpful if you could indicate whether these are also suitable.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like additional information on 07880 349 354

    Please save this Church. I was married there in 1971. I had run the youth club and was the youngest member of the Synod. Elizabeth Andrew
