Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards – Pre-application Workshop

After a highly successful first year, the Santander Awards are running again this year and will open for applications in June 2013. Quartet Community Foundation is very pleased to be once again managing the Awards for the South West region with awards of up to £50,000 available.

Before applications open, we would like to invite you to this FREE EVENT where we will share learning from the first year: what makes a successful application; plus learning sessions on maximising your intellectual assets and raising finance and funding. We would like to encourage you to submit an application for the awards and help you strengthen your application. This event is for owners and managers of social enterprises or CICs that are more than 2 years old, have turnover less than £1,000,000 pa, generating 26% or more of your income from trading activities.

The Agenda for the event is as follows:
12.00 noon: Welcome & Santander Regional Awards – Introduction and Background to the New Awards Round, What are we looking for this year, when the Awards will launch and what is involved in applying.
12.30 pm: Why should you apply? Thinking of applying, then what do you really want the money for? Session includes a short presentation from a successful applicant.
13.00 pm: Social Impact/Benefit: What we are looking for? Some ideas on what we are looking for in terms of social impact and benefit including a live case study from the first year.
13.30 pm: Break: Refreshments + Networking
14.00 pm: How to put together a winning bid. Presentation/Feedback from last year and a Live Case Study Guidance on what helps to make a compelling application and some ‘don’ts’
14.30 pm: Break out mini-workshops: Making the most of what you have?
• Three things you can do to make yourself ‘Award’ attractive. There are straight forward things you can do to make your company more attractive.
• ‘Commercialising’ your Intellectual Assets’ Do you know exactly what assets you have, how to protect and maximise them?
• Getting Investment Ready and Fundable. What do you need to do to get in shape for investors or to gain funding?
16.30 pm: Closing Session – Next Steps and How to get Involved.
