(From South West Forum) A new law, which will mean public bodies have to consider social and environmental benefits alongside financial considerations when awarding contracts, has passed through the parliamentary process this week.
The Public Services (Social Value) Act was a private member’s bill, which rarely reach the statute book, introduced by Chris White MP. He talks about what needs to happen next in this Guardian Social Enterprise Network article. He refers to a brief guide from Social Enterprise UK on what the new law will mean in practice.
